Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón has teamed up with powerhouse director J.J. Abrams to do a TV show for NBC titled - BELIEVE - and we now have the trailer courtesy of /Film. It's a leaked trailer and not NBC "leaked" from what it seems.

Cuarón just finished work on Gravity, one of the most ambitious movies in the history of film for its 3D work and directorial style. Film will be released October 4th. Abrams on his end just scored a #1 film with Star Trek Into Darkness co-starring Zoe Saldana.

The pairing has given way to an hourlong sci-fi drama presented at this year's upfront about a young superpowered girl (Johnny Sequoyah) and the death row inmate (Jake McLaughlin) broken out of jail to protect her.

Cuarón wrote and directed the pilot, and will serve as executive producer alongside Abrams. What we gathered from the TV trailer is that it's a bit subdued, perhaps due to the quality of the trailer, but at least we have something to see. I'm working on getting...

As 'The View' gets ready to say goodbye to Barbara Walters, ABC network executives and producers are having closed door meetings on the future of the much imitated iconic show.

One of the ideas being tossed around, again, is the inclusion of a Hispanic co-host. That idea is about to be re-tested when Univision’s Primer Impacto co-anchor, Pamela Silva Conde, gets a co-hosting seat next to the ladies of 'The View' this Tuesday at 11AM, eastern time.

Mrs. Conde’s selection shouldn’t surprise anyone. After having an African-American, an Asian and even a gay woman as hosts, it is about time 'The View' welcomed a Latina to the table. Actually, they should have done this years ago when the Hispanic population numbers were first exploding and Myrka Dellanos was welcomed to join as fill-in.

Yes, the same Myrka Dellanos, former co-host of Primer Impacto.

Back in 2007, Dellanos filled in for former host Meredith Viera to much acclaim. She was beautiful, quick-minded, opinionated, and professional. She connected very well with audiences and seemed to have...

Paulina Rubio is the new judge on Fox's X-Factor US and is the first straight up Mexican born judge to be on a English Language music reality competition show. Christina Aguilera (Ecuadorian father), Demi Lovato (quarter Mexican from mother's side) and Mariah Carey (half-Venezuelan father) don't really fancy themselves as Latinas, but Shakira and Rubio do.

Paulina Rubio, a.k.a "Pau," is the Queen of Latin Pop, and is currently working on Telemundo's La Voz Kids, a kids adaptation of NBC's successful franchise The Voice and was also on the second season of La Voz… México.

Latin pop/dance rocker "Pau" joins Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato at the table with Kelly Rowland from Destiny's Child being added as well. They’d be filling the judges’ seats vacated by LA Reid and Britney Spears.

X Factor US is set to film auditions in Charleston, SC, this Tuesday and Wednesday. The tweet was revealed by Cowell Monday. X Factor‘s third season will debut this fall.

Dominican/Puerto Rican actress Zoe Saldana belongs to a rare and privileged club, where a small click of actors films rank in the top 3 box office movies of all time. Avatar is the leader in that category and she’s its key co-star. She is literally on top of the world. Her huge blockbuster films have put her on the lips of every top producer and director in Hollywood as well as a profusion of money in her bank account. As she nears the release of another gi-normous franchise film in “Star Trek Into Darkness,” where she plays Uhura, she seems to be in a reflective mood about life, work and her place in it.

I have been interviewing Saldana since the early 2000’s when I used to work for a Spanish language morning newscast in New York. She was just breaking through with “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” back then and she seemed innocent to the tidal wave of the VIP life that was about to hit her.

In our deep, but fun conversation, her answers were peppered with shades of feminism and what sounded like a need to break free from some...

Last year her role in Denzel Washington’s ‘Flight’ got everyone’s attention as she is nude in the first scene for a long time and has a lingering role throughout the film. I had the chance to talk to her back when that film opened and now I had the luck to talk to her once more for her movie ‘Snitch’ starring Dwayne Johnson and Susan Sarandon; opening this Friday February 22nd.

With over 20 years in the business, Ortiz has consolidated himself as one of the most dependable Hispanic actors in Hollywood. His oustanding character actor work such as Guajiro in Carlito's Way, Juan Abreu in Before Night Falls, Octavio in NARC, Jose Yero in Miami Vice, amongst many others, puts him, well poised to be a part of the Oscar discussion in the next 10 years, the way Demián Bichir was in 2011.

I had such a great conversation with Ortiz. He gave me so much about the business of how Hollywood ticks, insights that no one has gotten yet regarding behind-the-scenes of the film. I also...

This Valentine’s Day weekend ‘Escape From Planet Earth’ an original animated family film will open nationwide! For us Latinos who love animated films this will be one to go see, especially because of the great Latino actors who voice some of the most important characters in the film: Jessica Alba is Lena, the beautiful and intelligent chief at BASA, Sofia Vergara plays Gabby the hot and spicy anchor for BNN News, and finally George Lopez a three-eyed slug alien named Thurman. We had a chance to sit down with two of their funny cast mates, Craig Robinson is Doc an intergalactic radio talk-show therapist, an adorable and genius alien mouse who invented social networking and is the voice of reason to all the other prisoners in Area 51. Jane Lynch is Io, she’s a gigantic Cyclops from the sun who has anger management problems and whose intelligence and strength come in handy.

These two has each had their share of making memorable movies: Lynch with ’40 year Old Virgin’, ‘Role Models’, and animated films like ‘Shrek Forever...

ShowBizCafe.com was one of the three Hispanic outlets invited to the exclusive red carpet premiere of ‘Warm Bodies’ in New York City. There I got to catch up with the main cast and director, as well as spot a few other celebrities invited to the screening such as Tony Danza and Gabourey Sidibe, best known for her role in the movie ‘Precious’.

‘Warm Bodies’ from director Jonathan Levine is about a Zombie named R (Nicholas Hoult) who falls in love with a human, Julie (Teresa Palmer), which changes the rules in both of their worlds and might help calm the chaos of the apocalypse.

British actor Nicholas Hoult has been in the world of TV and movies since he was a child and he’s had some key roles in both. He’s worked with the likes of Hugh Grant, Colin Firth and is part of the ‘X-Men’ franchise where he embodies Hank McCoy also known as “Beast”. This year he is the protagonist of ‘Warm Bodies’ and ‘Jack the Giant Slayer’.

So why did Affleck, an Irish guy, play him as opposed to a Latino actor? What did Tony Mendez, the real life CIA agent that inspired the film think? And is he really a Latino (couldn't find any detailed news on his heritage on the web)? Many people are upset at Affleck's logic here, but I decided to go to the source, Mendez himself, and interview about his Latino roots and Affleck's decision not to hire a Latino thespian to play the lead role.

The "1-4-0": ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ is the best action movie of 2013 so far. Killer action scenes, throwback Star Trek homages & intense IMAX 3D.

Headed to the movies today? Is ‘Iron Man 3’ in IMAX 3D on your menu list? If you are 25 and under then you are going to absolutely go bonkers for it. But if you are over 30, the fireworks will be a bit more restrained. You see, when one gets older, kid jokes are only so funny. You need a much more layered joke or gag to trigger the laughs. ‘Iron Man 3’ as fun and funny as it is, will do a better job playing to the teenage and young adult crowds than the mature grown ups preferring to see another sequel of The Dark Knight.

What you need to know about this third part is that it is ‘Stark-centric’. Most of the movie revolves around Tony Stark and not the Iron Man suit, which is never a good sign, but because it is Robert Downey Jr., the exception is validated. In this second sequel of the Iron superhero, Tony Stark/Iron Man (Downey Jr.) finds his world reduced to rubble by a malevolent enemy - The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) - and must use his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him as he seeks to destroy the enemy and his cohorts.

From engrossingly existential to plain ol’ dumbed-down is how I would describe the trek from beginning to end in Tom Cruise’s new movie “Oblivion” from director Joseph Kosinski. Overall, “Oblivion” is a good film, but not a great film. It does possess outstanding visuals (Chilean Claudio Miranda is responsible) and another solid performance from Tom Cruise, but the script towards the end, a combination between a novela romance and contrived plot twists, drags the film from a superb movie to just a slightly better than average affair.

In this remake, the primary premise from the original has been tweaked. Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

The basic objective for one paying to see horror movies is to experience a flood of adrenaline by way of heart-pounding scares and as much blood one can bear for the price of their ticket. But because moviegoers are exposed to a lot more horror these days many have become desensitized to it. That’s why the same ol’ formula just doesn’t cut it anymore, which is why the majority fail at it (most of the Jason and Freddy Krueger films), though some actually deliver the goods (The Strangers, Insidious,...

Is “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” the best action movie of 2013 so far? The year is still too young to give a credible opinion, but “Olympus has Fallen” might take that prize. It is rated R and it is hyper-violent. We also have to wait for “Iron Man 3,” “Man of Steel” and “Pacific Rim” to make a final decision. Nevertheless, G.I. JOE 2 is a Red Bull overdose as soon as you walk into the theater. In regards to its entertainment value, it’s going to be a ridiculous hit. All the violence, one-line bad jokes and 3D action your brain can handle are all present - and I must admit it is fun!

Even with all its visual sizzle, the one thing the film can’t mask or escape is its putrid script. I think the 80’s cartoons had better plots than this film. The G.I. Joe team is ordered to rescue some nukes from the US government, but they’re set up, framed. Some soldiers die and the remaining few have to recover in order to clean their names after being betrayed from within the government. COBRA on its end is trying to free Cobra Commander from an “inescapable” prison fortress to assume their ultimate...

This film definitely has a chance to do well at the theater because fans are going to want to see the book come alive right before their eyes in addition, the movie will attract a lot of the established “Twilight” and Meyers fan base. It will do well enough that who cares if it doesn’t reach the cult following that “Twilight” did because it’s a pretty good flick.
